To assist the resource center specialist in the organization and maintenance of the media center to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist resource center specialist in the daily operation of the media center
- Assist students and teachers in the selection of materials
- Assist in circulation tasks (checking in/out of books and materials, etc.)
- Perform general clerical tasks and repairs of books and materials
- Regular and on‑time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
- Associate’s Degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR pass the Para Pro Test provided by the district free of charge
- High School education or equivalent
- Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate
- Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload while working with frequent interruptions and minimum supervision
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with students, teachers, parents and district personnel
Physical Requirements
- Inside a school library or resource center, which may include classrooms or computer labs
- Frequent contact with students, teachers, and other school staff
- Generally quiet, but may be louder during student visits or group activities
- Ability to move around the library frequently; walking and standing for extended periods
- Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and kneeling to shelve or retrieve books
- May need to lift and carry boxes of books or supplies (typically up to 25–40 pounds)
