Provide instructional support under the supervision of the special education teacher to preschool‑aged students (ages 3‑5) in a safe and nurturing environment, using developmentally appropriate curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent plus an Associate's degree or 60 semester hours from an accredited university, or satisfactory results on an Arizona state‑approved competency exam
- CPR/First Aid certification (provided by the district)
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Ability to meet the physical demands listed below
- Student Support & Instruction: Reinforce material through one‑on‑one or small‑group instruction. Assist with academic, physical, and emotional needs following each student's IEP guidelines.
- Personal Care & Medical Assistance: Safely lift and transfer students to help with daily activities. Provide support with personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, dressing, suctioning, and tube feeding. Administer basic first aid and emergency rescue medications as needed.
- Social‑Emotional Development: Assist students with social and emotional needs, help build positive behaviors, and navigate social situations. Implement behavioral plans and strategies to foster a productive learning environment.
- Behavioral & Safety Management: Implement behavioral plans to modify behaviors that conflict with a positive learning environment. Supervise students during school activities and report any potential concerns such as substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situations.
- Collaboration & Administrative Duties: Assist with assessments and data collection under the direction of the certified teacher. Participate in required meetings and training. Translate for students, parents, and staff when required.
- General Operations: Maintain a quiet and orderly classroom. Operate and care for instructional equipment safely and prudently, following district policies and supervisor directives.
- Mobility and movement: stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, sit, and perform repetitive finger and manual dexterity tasks.
- Sensory and communication: speak, hear, and see (with correction) to perform essential functions.
- Physical exertion:
- Occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 lb.
- Frequently lift or move objects up to 20 lb.
- Constantly lift or move objects up to 10 lb.
- Work environment may expose employees to odors, dust, poor ventilation, blood borne pathogens, and loud noises.
