Salary: $71,544.00 per year

Calendar: 0212-FT, 200 workdays, 12 paid holidays, 212 total paid days

Job Description

The academic coach is a content expert, instructional leader, and professional development instructor. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, high organization, facilitation, and management skills.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Utilize content and instructional expertise and professional development leadership to achieve district strategic plan goals.
  • Keep abreast of and interpret current research, curriculum development, and instructional strategies.
  • Develop curriculum and facilitate curriculum writing.
  • Communicate effectively among sites, grade levels, classrooms, and curriculum directors.
  • Work closely with instructional services departments (curriculum, special education, Title I, and professional development) to identify, develop, and implement new best practices and programs.
  • Support teachers in curriculum implementation.
  • Serve as a liaison for state and national educational reforms and collaborate with other districts.
  • Develop and deliver professional development classes based on student achievement needs and district goals.
  • Build content, instruction, and assessment capacity at school sites.
  • Collaborate with principals and teachers to improve site instructional programs.
  • Model research‑based instructional techniques and strategies in the classroom and during professional development.
  • Disaggregate and analyze test data and assist in its interpretation for school improvement.
  • Plan and teach adult learning sessions, both in groups and individually, to communicate implications of needed changes in public education.
  • Perform other duties related to the general job function as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Highly qualified in designated content areas.
  • Master’s degree in education‑related field (preferred).
  • Knowledge of state standards and research‑based instruction.
  • Demonstrated classroom teaching ability.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Master’s degree preferred; citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

Physical Requirements
  • Requires physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Involves finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), and focusing ability.
  • May be exposed to travel, odors, dust, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and loud noises.
  • May require lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.
