This is a unique opportunity to work on advanced semiconductor tools, participate in their development and qualification in Germany, and support their deployment and operation at one of the world’s leading semiconductor fabs.

About the Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful installation, commissioning, and ongoing operation of advanced plasma processing systems. You will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and deploying new tools, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting both atmospheric and low‑pressure plasma systems. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, problem‑solving ability, and customer‑facing skills, as you will act as the primary on‑site technical liaison for complex semiconductor equipment.

You will have direct involvement in:

  • Development and qualification:
Working in Germany to test, validate, and optimise newly developed tools before deployment.
  • Installation and commissioning:
Supporting the setup, calibration, and qualification of plasma systems at the Chandler fab, ensuring they meet stringent performance and safety requirements.
  • Ongoing service and maintenance:
Performing preventative maintenance, emergency troubleshooting, and repairs for installed equipment.
  • Customer support and training:
Training operators and engineers in system operation, maintenance, and safe practices, and providing technical guidance and documentation.
  • Documentation and process improvement:
Developing commissioning procedures, troubleshooting guides, and technical manuals, and providing feedback to global engineering and product teams for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly to customer requests and provide 24/7 on‑call technical support as required.
  • Schedule and execute service calls, both routine and urgent, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
  • Conduct on‑site installation, qualification, and preventive maintenance of plasma processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Organise, track, and maintain customer spare parts, service tools, and repair equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational safety standards (OSHA, NFPA) and customer site requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, including field applications, product management, engineering, manufacturing, and sales.
  • Participate in global projects, including tool development, factory acceptance testing, and process optimisation.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Associate degree in electro‑mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering, or equivalent military technical training.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in field service, technical support, or industrial automation roles.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical circuitry, mechanical systems, electronics, and factory automation equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Self‑confident and self‑assured, able to work independently while managing priorities under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a professional, proactive, and collaborative approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Valid passport and driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug testing, and site‑specific security requirements.
Why This Role Is Exciting
  • Work with state‑of‑the‑art semiconductor equipment in one of the world’s leading fabs.
  • Travel internationally and gain hands‑on experience in tool development and qualification in Germany.
  • Be a technical leader, directly influencing the successful deployment and operation of high‑tech tools.
  • Join a collaborative and innovative environment where your expertise, problem‑solving, and customer‑focused approach are highly valued.
