A leading provider of advanced RF, microwave, and millimeter‑wave technologies supporting defense, aerospace, and space missions is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join its engineering and production organization. This role focuses on enabling high‑reliability manufacturing for complex electronic assemblies used in mission‑critical systems—from satellite payload hardware to secure communication platforms.
Position OverviewThis hands‑on engineering role supports a high‑mix, low‑volume production environment, driving process capability, manufacturability, and product performance for sophisticated RF and microwave components and subsystems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cross‑functional efforts to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce cost, and improve product performance across multiple RF/microwave product families
- Develop and refine manufacturing methods, workflows, tooling concepts, and production layouts to support efficient assembly of specialized electronic hardware
- Investigate yield, quality, and assembly issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Participate in design‑for‑manufacturability reviews and provide technical input to improve throughput and reliability
- Advance manufacturability for integrated microwave assemblies, frequency control devices, converters, filters, synthesizers, and related RF hardware
- Create and maintain detailed work instructions, routings, and production documentation in accordance with quality and regulatory standards
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and serve as a subject‑matter resource for production teams
- Conduct cost modeling, ROI assessments, and make/buy evaluations to support capital planning and operational decisions
- Contribute to Material Review Board activities and support new product introduction initiatives
- Collaborate with internal engineering, quality, supply chain, and external suppliers to resolve manufacturing challenges and support on‑time delivery
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering within high‑reliability electronics or RF/microwave production
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for RF electronics, including soldering, mechanical assembly, bonding, and environmental/functional testing
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and support diverse product builds in a high‑mix environment
- Proficiency with Lean methodologies, structured problem‑solving, and continuous improvement tools (5 Why, Fishbone, PFMEA, etc.)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams
- Experience developing manufacturing documentation, KPIs, and supporting regulated production environments (AS9100, MIL‑STD, etc.)
- Background in defense, aerospace, or other regulated electronics manufacturing
- Hands‑on experience with RF/microwave components or systems
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP platforms, CAD tools, and process mapping software
Very low‑cost medical via Anthem, HSA, FSA, generous monthly commuter benefits, education reimbursement plan, company‑based performance bonus, 401K with match, and parental leave.
