Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

The Mechanical Engineering group is hiring for an Engineering Designer – Level 4 in our Mechanical Engineering team within the Launch Vehicles Business Unit at our Chandler, AZ facility.

• Work within the Northrop Grumman Design group and be responsible for creating drawing/design packages with proper content and to ensuring compliance with applicable industry and military standards
• Review designs for fit, function, manufacturability, economy of fabrication, and verifying completed work, checking dimensions, materials, and quantities to be used
• Review tolerance analysis, hardware selection, and fitment on assembly prints
• Resolve interpretation issues on drawings
• Verify 3D models submitted to manufacturing utilizing Siemens NX 1946 managed with Teamcenter
• Coordinate with various engineering disciplines, Manufacturing, and Quality
• Some vendor liaison will be required
• As requested may supervise, and direct the activities of staff
• Model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Siemens NX 1946 managed with Teamcenter, and create/revise parametric drawings in conformance with ASME modeling and drawing standards

• Knowledge of Word, Excel, Windows, and NX 1946 as required
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work quickly and accurately while under schedule pressure and exhibit a large degree of patience
• Strong time management and organizational skills

for Engineering Designer – Level 3

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related engineering design experience; OR a Master’s degree with 3 years of related engineering design experience, or a PhD with 1 year of related engineering design experience, or High School diploma or equivalent and 9 years additional education and/or related experience
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance
• Must be experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Must be experienced with weld design per AWS D17.1 and D1.1
• Must have knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC Mill and Lathe operations
• Must be experienced with Siemens NX 1946 and Teamcenter

for Engineering Designer – Level 4

• Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related engineering design experience; OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of related engineering design experience, or a PhD with 4 years of related engineering design experience, or High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years additional education and/or related experience
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance
• Must be experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Must be experienced with weld design per AWS D17.1 and D1.1
• Must have knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC Mill and Lathe operations
• Must be experienced with Siemens NX 1946 and Teamcenter
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
