A Recording Engineer focuses on capturing, storing, and managing call recordings for compliance, QA, and analytics.

- Compliance (PCI, regulatory rules)

- Genesys (recording module)

- Every required call is recorded
- Recordings are accessible
- Storage is secure
- Compliance standards are met
- Analyze SIPREC / recording protocol issues
- Check CTI integration failures
- Investigate recording gaps (why specific calls not recorded)
- Review system logs & packet captures
- Validate trunk-level recording settings
- Nice Systems
- Verint
- Genesys
- Cisco (for network correlation)
- Fix selective recording rules
- Validate PCI pause/resume logic
- Adjust retention policies
- Investigate encryption failures
- Ensure lawful intercept requirements are met
If recordings are missing → this becomes a high-risk compliance incident.
Storage & Performance Management- Investigate storage corruption
- Resolve database indexing issues
- Optimize archive retrieval time
- Fix recording server performance bottlenecks
- Handle failover between primary/secondary recorders
- CRM playback failures
- QA system not pulling recordings
- API integration issues
- Authentication/SSO problems
- Provide technical RCA report
- Identify whether issue was:
- Network (voice team)
- Platform config
- Recording engine bug
- Storage failure
- Recommend preventive measures
- SIP / VoIP understanding
- Packet capture analysis (Wireshark)
- Linux/Windows server troubleshooting
- Database basics (SQL)
- Storage systems knowledge
- Compliance awareness (PCI-DSS, financial regulations)
