Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Production Engineer
Department: Manufacturing Engineering
Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Assembly Production Engineer to support precision mechanical builds within a semiconductor cleanroom manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining assembly processes to ensure high-quality, repeatable production of semiconductor equipment and subassemblies.
The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with hands‑on manufacturing experience and a solid understanding of cleanroom operations, contamination control, and process discipline.
Key Responsibilities Process Development & Optimization- Develop, document, and maintain mechanical assembly processes for semiconductor equipment and precision subassemblies.
- Create and update work instructions, process flows, torque specifications, and assembly standards.
- Implement Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within cleanroom operations.
- Provide hands‑on engineering support to cleanroom assembly teams.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by transitioning designs into stable production processes.
- Evaluate tooling, fixtures, and equipment to improve ergonomics, repeatability, and throughput.
- Ensure assembly processes meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and cleanliness requirements.
- Partner with Quality Engineering to support inspections, nonconformance investigations, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Establish and monitor critical process parameters (CPPs) and quality metrics.
- Maintain compliance with ISO standards, ESD controls, and cleanroom contamination‑control protocols.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to review drawings for manufacturability (DFM).
- Interpret and validate mechanical drawings, GD&T, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Customer Process Change Requests (PCRs) and revision control processes.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, and Production teams to ensure alignment and on‑time delivery.
- Adhere to semiconductor cleanroom standards, including gowning procedures and ESD controls.
- Ensure tools, fixtures, and processes meet contamination control requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing engineering, or semiconductor equipment production
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, precision assembly, and torque‑controlled fastening
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, and technical documentation
- Experience developing work instructions and manufacturing process documentation
- Hands‑on troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience
- Familiarity with cleanroom environments and ESD best practices
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Experience in semiconductor capital equipment manufacturing
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with process validation, FMEA, PFMEA, and control plans
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
- Experience designing or implementing custom assembly fixtures and tooling
- Prior chemical or chemistry‑related experience
