Summary

The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing common contract logistics processes, driving continuous performance improvement, and providing engineering support for new or expanding business implementations. The role involves supporting multifaceted operations, facilitating facility layout and design, selecting appropriate equipment, and managing vendor execution. Additionally, the engineer maintains financial and engineering metrics, provides guidance and training to interns/co‑ops, and leads any necessary vendor activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Keep informed of best‑in‑class tools and techniques for solution design.
  • Track all projects and communicate progress to engineering leadership.
  • Determine and enlist resources required to support continuous improvement projects.
  • Analyze workflow in inbound, put‑away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping and VAS processes to ensure accuracy and execution capability.
  • Configure distribution system functionality (e.g., WMS, LMS) to optimize performance.
  • Perform special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functions.
  • Conduct cost/benefit trade‑off analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects.
  • Develop logistics engineering strategies with engineering leadership.
  • Participate in “DSV Quality Planning” (DQP) sessions and validate client requirements.
  • Support local operations with pricing analysis and support.
  • Document and communicate common processes for all distribution functions within scope.
  • Review data and summarize expectations to address gaps.
  • Identify areas for improvement based on data analysis and observations.
  • Communicate opportunities for improvement and recommend metrics to guide management.
  • Assist with developing and presenting training materials for distribution processes.
  • Bring cross‑functional teams together to collaborate on projects.
  • Support the labor management program, including methods, procedures, and engineered labor standards.
  • Ensure alignment among operations’ policies, procedures, and ongoing improvement projects.
  • Educate the team in LEAN methodology and promote a sustainable continuous improvement culture.
  • Facilitate LEAN methodology usage and recommend solutions.
  • Deploy statistical tools such as Pareto charts, histograms, and cause‑and‑effect diagrams.
  • Leverage value‑stream mapping or flow diagram of processes to identify critical quality points.
  • Apply FMEA to quantify impact on processes.
  • Maintain subject‑matter expertise in Six Sigma, DMAIC, 5S, and other industry methods.
  • Work with leadership to drive continual improvement programs, Kaizen events, and workshops.
  • Set innovation standards for strategic and operational problem solving.
  • Ensure sustainability components in all projects.
  • Illustrate improvement successes with tangible case studies.
  • Assist with developing and rolling out strategies and projects.
  • Determine feasibility of projects by factoring costs, space, schedule, and economic factors.
  • Develop and implement project plans, coordinate subcontractors, facility management, and field service personnel.
  • Resolve logistics problems to meet contractual commitments.
  • Drive a standard approach for U.S. operations and coordinate with Canadian counterparts when required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Back up engineering leadership occasionally.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility toward the department budget.
  • Comply with internal labor regulations, human resources procedures, security, safety, and hygiene measures.
Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 3‑4 years of experience in a supply‑chain (warehouse/4‑walls) environment.
  • Prior leadership positions directing Logistics Engineers in a 3PL or supply‑chain environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including advanced Excel, Access, and Power BI.
  • Insight into Warehouse Management Systems and system capabilities.
  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge.
  • Understanding of various storage methodologies and material handling
