Job DescriptionMicrochip Technology Inc. has a Manager-Quality Engineering (QMS Aerospace & Defense and Systems Operations) opening based in Austin, TX, Chandler, AZ, Beverly, MA, Mount Holly Springs, PA, Colorado Springs, CO, or Hauppauge, NY. The successful candidate will manage the A&D and Systems Operations Quality System worldwide, provide training to internal auditors at manufacturing sites, and provide overall direction and coordination of the team’s responsibilities and activities related to QMS.
Responsibilities- Define and establish company quality policies. Develop and implement comprehensive quality and continuous improvement strategies aligned with the organization's goals.
- Establish, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System to meet ISO
9001 and AS9100 standards, including documentation control and process updates. - Lead and manage third-party QMS certifications (ISO
9001 and AS9100) and audits at multiple manufacturing locations worldwide. - Manage division Internal QMS audits, including facilitating audit schedules and closing out findings.
- Act as the primary liaison for certification bodies, customers, and regulatory authorities regarding quality standards.
- Assist Engineering Business Units, Manufacturing Operations and Support functions with developing and implementing processes, practices, and procedures that comply with QMS standards and quality requirements (SOPs and customer-specific).
- Work with Design and Manufacturing teams to implement APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA, and SPC procedures and systems where required.
- Evaluate and align QMS with other Quality and Industry standards (e.g., IATF
16949). - Design and monitor metrics/KPIs to track progress and communicate improvement impact.
- Identify needs and opportunities for quality and business improvements. Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to gain buy-in.
- Lead lean initiatives, standardized work, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies and opportunities, performing analysis of processes and workflows using Six Sigma and related methodologies.
- Perform contract and feasibility reviews on customer specifications; work with engineering and factory to implement customer requirements. Coordinate with Legal, Sales, and Marketing on reviews and negotiations with Customer Contracts and Quality Agreements; assist with planning and hosting customer quality audits.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and integrate best practices into the organization.
- Develop, monitor, and report QMS KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- 12.5+ years of experience in Quality Management, continuous improvement, or related roles in a leadership capacity.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate teams and influence change.
- Experience in performing ISO
9001 and AS9100 audits as Lead Auditor. - Comprehensive knowledge of QMS, methodologies, and tools.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9145, and AS9100.
- Proven track record of leading and implementing QMS standards and global process-improvement initiatives with tangible outcomes.
- Ability to translate customer needs into measurable process and product requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process-improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical and 8D problem-solving skills with root-cause analysis and effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
