Title: Test Technician Support Lead

Position Summary: Test Technician Support Lead responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting systemic test failures within RF and digital circuits of Comtech production released products. Products will include high/low powered radio transmitters/receivers and modem products used in line-of-site and satellite communications. Evaluation will require tuning, testing, troubleshooting of high and low power RF radio transmitters/receivers and complex modem products using discrete and automated test equipment.

The individual will interface with manufacturing and design engineers to gather information, define/implement validation tests, formulate and present solutions.

Responsibilities
  • The following operations will require minimal instruction after initial product training.
  • Isolate problems and troubleshoot down to the component level using schematics and discrete test equipment.
  • Interface between production test engineering and design engineering to investigate and resolve failure symptoms during production test.
  • Perform manual testing configuring discrete test equipment; DMM, RF power meter, oscilloscope, frequency generators, spectrum and data analyzers, etc.
  • Operate automated test stations and evaluate product performance.
  • Evaluate unit performance and compare to established specifications.
  • Provide technical status of product performance, evaluate automated test results, troubleshoot test equipment and test stations to the component level.
  • Perform mechanical assembly – minor disassembly of product during troubleshooting process.
  • Compile, evaluate and present data in a concise and informative format.
Requirements
  • Understand and write schematic drawings, engineering change orders (ECO), test procedures, and rework documents.
  • Basic math skill and computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
  • Good knowledge of RF microwave technology and digital circuits.
  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours.
  • Operational knowledge of manufacturing/workmanship standards and their understanding.
  • Good decision making & problem solving, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
Skills
  • Knowledge of electronic components.
  • Experience with RF & digital test equipment including spectrum & network analyzers, power meters, frequency generators, multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic and data analyzers.
  • Ability to communicate intelligently with design engineers.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
Education

Associate’s degree in electronics, technical school, or equivalent military education.

Experience

10 years of experience in a comparable electronics field required.
