Job Title:

Mechanical Process Piping Engineer

Job Description

This fully onsite role in a high-tech manufacturing environment focuses on the design, operation, and continuous improvement of facility mechanical and process piping systems that support production and laboratory areas. You will partner closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure reliable delivery of critical utility services, drive system upgrades and capital projects, and serve as a key technical owner for high-uptime, utility-intensive systems.

This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to a high-impact semiconductor program, build relevant experience quickly, and gain valuable exposure to an advanced technology environment.

Responsibilities

* Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to maintain, expand, and optimize facility mechanical and process piping systems supporting fab and lab activities.

* Develop conceptual and detailed designs for mechanical systems that support facility infrastructure and manufacturing tool installations.

* Serve as system owner for mechanical and process utilities, including process cooling water systems, compressed air systems, chilled water (CHW) and heating hot water (HHW) systems, and chillers and cooling towers (condenser water systems).

* Perform calculations and analyses to evaluate energy usage, system performance, and cost-saving opportunities across facility systems.

* Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams, project managers, contractors, and vendors to execute projects safely, on time, and within budget.

* Support high-reliability operations by ensuring consistent uptime and stable performance of facility mechanical and process piping systems.

* Conduct facility assessments to evaluate capacity, reliability, and opportunities for system upgrades, expansions, or optimization.

* Inspect construction and maintenance work to verify compliance with design specifications, codes, and quality standards.

* Provide direction and technical guidance to designers and drafters, and support coordination across engineering disciplines.

* Prepare, document, and present technical information, findings, and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders as needed.

* Support system startup, optimization, and shutdown activities, ensuring safe and efficient transitions for facility systems.

* Perform root cause analysis for system failures, identify corrective actions, and drive implementation to improve system reliability.

* Define and communicate scope of work for construction and modification projects through drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

* Provide technical support during system failures or emergency events to restore operations and minimize downtime.

* Align project work and system strategies with organizational goals and operational priorities.

* Deliver high-quality engineering work products within established timelines and project constraints.

* Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners, demonstrating strong communication and teamwork.

* Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned systems and projects, including performance, reliability, and compliance.

* Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives related to facility mechanical and process piping systems.

Essential Skills

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering.

* Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial or advanced manufacturing environments, with a focus on facility systems design.

* Experience owning or supporting at least two of the following systems:
Process Cooling Water (PCW), Chilled Water (CHW) / Heating Hot Water (HHW), compressed air, chillers, and cooling towers.

* Experience leading or contributing to at least two capital or system upgrade projects in a manufacturing or facility environment.

* Strong technical problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and system reliability.

* Experience working in high-uptime, utility-intensive environments such as semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facilities.

* Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to understand both system-level design concepts and detailed execution requirements for mechanical and process systems.

* Hands-on experience with facility operations, mechanical systems, facilities engineering, piping, and mechanical engineering.

* Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented approach to engineering work and project execution.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

* Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain one, is preferred.

* Experience with facilities systems and manufacturing tool installation projects conducted onsite.

* Experience in mechanical design and process system design for industrial or high-tech facilities.

* Experience working with chillers, cooling…
