The Senior Designer position is responsible for producing tool install construction documents with architects, engineers, and designers for various facility mechanical, process, electrical, and control systems while managing the team with regards to the scope, schedule, and budget for tool designs in their assigned functional areas.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities- Works with or leads a team of engineers and/or designers to create and document designs fulfilling the project design scope consistent with industry-accepted practice as well as client-preferred standards, with minimal supervision.
- Coordinates the work of the design team that are producing tool install construction documents.
- Responsible for correctness, completeness, schedule, and budget for all design packages within assigned functional areas.
- Ensures the team is performing the contracted scope of work, working with the design managers to create and process all needed change orders.
- Works with the Project Controls team to review budgets.
- Facilitates client and construction contractor design review meetings, gathering all stakeholder comments for inclusion in the design package and posting meeting minutes.
- Drives any open issues to closure, providing solutions for issues to the client.
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required
- Education:
Associate’s degree in a related field. - 4+ years of experience, 2+ years in Tool Install.
- Experience in leading teams and work groups, small to medium projects.
Preferred
- Equivalent experience in lieu of minimum educational requirement accepted.
- Prior experience with advanced technology.
- Prior experience in consulting engineering.
- Experience working within a team environment.
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes.
Skills & Knowledge
- Detailed understanding of Lean execution principles for design of projects.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic and attention to details.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives.
- Ability to train team on lean principles needed to design and manage project.
- Energetic and self-motivated.
- Ability to mentor and train junior staff.
- Ability to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to resolve conflict and solve problems while leading by example.
- Proficient in Excel, Teams, Outlook.
- Basic understanding of Auto Cad, Bluebeam, and Power BI is a plus.
