Arcosa Aggregates is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager based out of our Chandler, AZ office to oversee regulatory compliance throughout industrial business segments. In this role, the Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and communication of the organization’s environmental compliance program and systems. This includes providing guidance with EHS departments to assure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory requirements.

Day

to Day
  • Access, research, interpret and effectively communicate environmental regulations and requirements including (Waste, Air, Wastewater, Stormwater, Mine Reclamation, Remediation & other related regulations)
  • Develop and conduct training as necessary
  • Develops, implements, and leads effective environmental protection management process
  • Assist in the development and implementation of guidelines, procedures and work practices to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Oversees and leads permit reviews, modifications and application renewal processes to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Effectively track regulatory and corporate due dates for reporting, permit renewals, etc. and meet deadlines with sufficient time to facilitate review and approval by management and timely submission of information.
  • Identify and prioritize risks to maintaining environmental compliance. Ensure steps are taken to avoid non-compliance. Manage change to ensure compliance.
  • Lead environmental incident investigations, mitigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action
  • Assist with compliance review audits/assessments undertaken by corporate, governmental agencies.
  • Assist with due diligence process of acquisitions/divestitures to ensure compliance.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental Science, Engineering, Science, EH&S or related field
  • 7+ years of environmental compliance experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences
  • Self-motivated, possess strong analytical skills, exhibits sound decision-making, and have proficient organization skills
  • Solid attention to detail and excellent project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulatory laws and analysis
  • Experience implementing key management systems/controls such as Permits, Plans, License & Registration, and Compliance Calendars
  • Experience in environmental permitting activities- (Air – Major Source, Wastewater, Storm Water, & Wetlands)
  • Ability to multi-task, quickly adapt to change, and work with minimal direction
  • Proven ability to direct EHS personnel towards effective improvement
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to efficiently balance multiple priorities
Working Conditions
  • Work environment includes plants, mobile equipment, warehouses, production, and non-production areas.
  • This position may require work coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays.
  • Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant.
  • Must be able to meet all MSHA safety requirements.
  • Must be able to complete work tasks under various adverse weather conditions including consistent heat in excess of 110 degrees, cold, rain, etc.
  • A typical work schedule consists of daytime hours Monday through Friday but may be required to work nights and/or weekends.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, pull, push, as well as bend and lift up to 80 pounds frequently and consistently throughout the day.
