These teams include environmental scientists, safety specialists, and industrial hygiene scientists. Collectively, they provide technical guidance and perform planning, risk assessment, inspections and monitoring, training, and data management.

Job Summary:

The Sr. Safety Specialist helps develop and execute the safety component of an Environmental, Safety, and Health (EHS) program.  This involves administrative and field tasks per established industry practices, procedures, and regulatory and Bechtel requirements. The position requires practical application of occupational safety and related disciplines for managing safety and health aspects of a project or facility. The position reports to an EHS Lead or the Project EHS Manager.

# Major Responsibilities:

+   Executes assignments involving significant safety and health issues and risks, using judgment and experience in the application of scientific techniques and plans to reduce the potential for adverse impacts.

+   Integrates safety and health requirements into proposals, planning documents, design, construction, commissioning and startup, operations, schedules, procurement, and subcontract documents.

+   Provides input on bid decisions, proposal development, and estimates (scope, constraints, schedules, budgets) with respect to integration and compliance with safety and health requirements.

+   Interprets requirements and provides technical assistance within EHS teams and to other project groups regarding risk and hazard assessment, plan preparation, and EHS program execution.

+   Researches issues and regulatory requirements, performs studies and risk assessments, and prepares documentation and reports.

+   Performs safety studies, risk assessments, and other safety and health reviews.

+   Drafts and helps implement the project Safety and Health Management Plan, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
