Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer
The Stress Testing and Reliability Laboratory is seeking a motivated, hands-on engineer to join our Environmental Stress Tool Engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in advancing Intel's next-generation packaging technologies, including EMIB, Foveros, Hybrid Bonding, and Co-Packaged Optics, while supporting package qualification and technology development efforts. Our team develops, operates, and maintains a diverse fleet of environmental stress systems used to evaluate the reliability of Intel's silicon and package technologies under conditions that simulate real-world use, including thermal cycling, temperature extremes, and humidity exposure.
We take pride in delivering trusted test environments and high-quality data that enable critical process development, qualification, and certification decisions for both internal and external stakeholders. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge technology while working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to engineering excellence and reliability. This role will support equipment using DC power and measurement systems, including programmable power supplies, digital multimeters, thermocouple arrays, and related electronics.
- Characterization of equipment performance and response to excursions/issues
- Continuous improvement of methods, specifications, and training
- Development, analysis, and implementation of statistical process control
- Translation of reliability stress analysis requirements into fixturing and development of new tools, systems, and other innovative solutions
- Coordination of tool vendors and field service engineers
- Collaboration with internal operations, planning, and facilities teams
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related scientific field with 3+ years of experience
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related scientific field with 0 years of experience
- Strong understanding of DC electrical systems, including operation, troubleshooting, and calibration of programmable DC power supplies and associated instrumentation.
- Experience with electrical measurement and data acquisition equipment, including digital multimeters (DMMs), thermocouple measurement systems, and temperature monitoring hardware.
- Knowledge of electronics fundamentals, including voltage, current, resistance, power, grounding, signal integrity, and basic circuit analysis.
- Hands-on experience with sensor integration and troubleshooting, particularly thermocouples, RTDs, and related environmental monitoring devices.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues involving electrical hardware, wiring, connectors, relays, and control systems.
- Familiarity with data acquisition (DAQ) systems, instrumentation communication protocols (e.g., GEM 300, Ethernet, GPIB, RS-232), and automated test equipment.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of calibration practices, measurement accuracy, uncertainty, and equipment verification, including those supporting ISO 9001 and 17025 readiness.
- Experience with scripting, automation, or statistical software (e.g., LabVIEW, Python, JMP, SQL) to support measurement, control, and data analysis.
