Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation, located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. As part of this work, the M&T team is responsible for delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction scope required to complete and finish-out a leading-edge chipmaking facility - a highly demanding environment where precision, cleanliness, schedule certainty, and coordination across thousands of craft and professional personnel are essential to success.
The project supports the continued expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity, contributing to a more resilient technology supply chain while creating significant opportunity for the local Arizona workforce. The PLC/Network Specialist Commissioning and Startup Engineer serves as the technical authority for programmable logic controllers, industrial control systems, and operational technology (OT) network infrastructure on large, complex, and mission-critical projects, including semiconductor manufacturing facilities, hyperscale data centers, and life sciences installations. This role focuses on configuring, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex, automated control systems-such as PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and HMIs-together with the industrial networks that carry their traffic in manufacturing or municipal utility environments.
This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, validating, testing, and commissioning critical control and network systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulatory requirements, project specifications, and operational objectives.
Within semiconductor facilities, the PLC/Network Specialist CSU Engineer is responsible for the verification and integration of highly specialized control and communication systems, including base build utility controls (ultrapure water, bulk and specialty gas, chemical delivery, process cooling water, and waste treatment), HVAC, exhaust and abatement controls, building management and energy monitoring and control systems, electrical and critical power monitoring, and the facility-to-tool interfaces required for process tool hookup.
The engineer ensures these systems communicate reliably, execute their sequences of operation as designed, and meet the stringent safety, reliability, cybersecurity, and operational requirements necessary before fabrication facilities become fully operational.
Acting as the on-site technical lead for controls and network commissioning, this position works closely with engineering, construction, operations, vendors, equipment suppliers, commissioning teams, and the client's automation and IT/OT organizations to develop and execute comprehensive testing and validation programs. The role supports technical leadership throughout loop checking, system turnover, integrated systems testing, regulatory inspections, and operational readiness activities to ensure all control and network systems are fully functional, secure, code-compliant, documented, and ready for safe and reliable operation.
