The Mortgage Production Manager is responsible for successfully developing business with home buyers and home owners and producing compliant mortgage loan applications in accordance with our organization’s mission, vision, values, team guidelines, and business plan. This role focuses on creating lasting relationships with mortgage loan customers that can extend to solutions for these customers in to other departments within the bank.
The Arizona Mortgage Production Manager (AZ MPM) provides leadership to the mortgage team and partners with Retail and Commercial Banking leadership to optimize growth opportunities in line with the bank’s vision and values. The AZ MPM is accountable for maximizing mortgage growth and profitability in the market through the development and management of a sales and service plan to deliver both secondary market and portfolio loan solutions that address customer needs, while maintaining credit discipline for portfolio lending and increasing net income performance with a focus on quality, service, production, and retention, consistent with the bank’s risk tolerance.

- Ensure the department’s profitability by establishing and carrying out the business, consistent with the organization’s vision, core values, and strategic plan; actively communicate and model company philosophy to customers and team
- Establish, build, and maintain a mortgage loan portfolio; identify prospects and customer loan/deposit opportunities that meet the bank’s credit risk tolerance; actively analyze risk and monitor quality of the mortgage loan portfolio of both self and team produced loans
- Conduct market analysis and develop new business opportunities, relationships, and product ideas to meet customer needs
- Coach and mentor MLOs to strong adherence to the credit risk tolerance and model behaviors consistent with company expectations
- Ensure a high level of coordination with the retail and commercial banking divisions for superior customer experience
- Plan, establish, implement and monitor bank policies and procedures in accordance with local, national and federal rules and regulations
- Establish and ensure high quality customer care services; resolve escalated customer and team issues
- Assist and support in designing bank's products, services, and marketing strategy
- Monitor the department's performance, anticipate problems and adjust strategy to protect investments; provide periodic reports to management; assist in budget preparation; coordinate the collection of past due in-house or portfolio loans
- Coach and mentor the MLO team, including setting performance goals, monitoring progress, and coaching
- Develop a deep understanding of Western State Bank’s portfolio loan credit profile and lead by example, coach to, and hold team accountable to the standards
- Conform to and lead MLO team in adherence to loan policy; structuring portfolio loans to align with Western State Bank’s loan policy
- Minimize exceptions to loan policy and establish proper mitigants or credit enhancements when an exception to policy is proposed

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business preferred. 7+ years of experience in Mortgage Lending, portfolio and in-house lending experience preferred, with 3+ years in a management position, leading a team.
