Tax Analyst Position
Microchip Technology Incorporated is seeking a self-driven and motivated tax professional to join our tax department, located in Chandler, Arizona. The tax analyst position will focus on gathering and analyzing data to assist in the preparation of the Company's consolidated income tax provision, domestic federal income tax return, as well as other state and foreign income tax filings. The Company is seeking someone who is very self-motivated with a passion for learning in a very dynamic environment who wants to further their career with a great team!
Specific responsibilities include:
- Assist in the preparation of various forms and schedules included within the Company's Form 1120 U.S corporation income tax return
- Prepare various state income tax returns and supporting calculations including apportionment, blended state rate, and state taxable income calculations
- Prepare/assist with the preparation of various components of Microchip's global income tax provision in accordance with ASC-740
- Prepare/assist with the quarterly preparation of federal and state estimated income tax payments and extensions
- Assist in the preparation of responses to various taxing authorities to resolve notices and audits
- Research and understand tax legislation and tax law changes for various income tax issues and participate in modeling different scenarios
- Data collection and analysis (including accounting systems, tax systems, and direct inquiry to business partners)
- 0-2 years tax/accounting experience with private industry and/or public accounting
- Experience with tax compliance and tax provision software (preferably One Source RS), tax research software (such as RIA Checkpoint), and Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with extreme attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and take initiative on projects
- Ability to collaborate cross function within the company, i.e. treasury, accounting, finance, financial planning, and analysis
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, both independently and as part of a team
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Master's Degree in Tax, preferred
- CPA or equivalent preferred
