About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Manager to lead payroll operations and benefits administration for a growing, multi-state workforce of 100+ employees.

This role is heavily payroll-focused (approximately 90% payroll / 10% benefits initially) and requires a true payroll professional with depth, precision, and strong internal controls experience. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, value accuracy and compliance, and want exposure to equity compensation and public-company-level controls — this is an excellent opportunity to make impact.

🌟 Open to relocation candidates and out-of-state rockstars ready to make a move.

What You’ll Be Doing Payroll Leadership (Primary Focus)
  • Process bi-monthly and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on time
  • Manage equity vesting events, bonuses, terminations, and adjustments
  • Administer multi-state payroll including tax compliance across varying state laws
  • Maintain strong internal controls (including SOX compliance and audit readiness)
  • Partner with Finance on reconciliations, reporting, and month/quarter-end close
  • Oversee payroll data accuracy within HRIS systems
  • Continuously improve payroll processes, automation, and system integrations
Benefits & Equity Administration (Secondary Focus)
  • Oversee open enrollment and 401(k) administration
  • Manage leave programs (FMLA, STD/LTD, parental leave, time-off plans)
  • Support equity compensation programs (RSA grants, vesting, forfeitures)
  • Coordinate with benefit vendors and brokerage systems

Prepare routine and ad hoc payroll and benefits reporting
What We’re Looking For
  • ✔ 7+ years of payroll experience with demonstrated depth and ownership
  • ✔ Experience in a public company environment preferred
  • ✔ Strong understanding of SOX controls and audit requirements
  • ✔ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business or related field
  • ✔ Payroll systems proficiency (Paycor preferred) + advanced Excel skills
  • ✔ Experience administering equity compensation through payroll
  • ✔ Strong communicator and active listener
What Sets You Apart
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • High integrity and discretion with sensitive information
  • Ability to investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies
  • Strong cross‑functional partnership skills (HR + Finance)

This is an opportunity to take full ownership of payroll operations in a collaborative, high‑accountability environment with meaningful compensation upside.

If you’re a seasoned payroll professional ready for your next leadership step, we’d love to connect.
