Overview
The HR Advisor serves as a trusted partner and primary point of contact for Associates, managing inquiries through HR systems, case management tools, email, phone, and in-person interactions. This role goes beyond administrative support and requires strong HR knowledge, sound judgment, and critical thinking to assess situations, resolve concerns, and connect Associates with the appropriate resources. The ideal candidate is passionate about Human Resources, comfortable navigating complex or sensitive situations, and committed to delivering a high-quality Associate experience.
The HR Advisor collaborates closely across HR and business functions and provides ongoing support to HR Business Partners on a broad range of HR-related needs. This role may be based at our Phoenix or Flagstaff, Arizona, or Newark, Delaware facilities, with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement depending on business needs.
- Respond to inquiries from Associates and leaders with accurate, timely, and consistent guidance, owning cases from intake through resolution to ensure a supportive experience
- Clearly communicate HR policies, processes, and guidelines, balancing service orientation with appropriate boundary-setting and policy adherence
- Identify situations involving associate relations risk, compliance concerns, or potential legal exposure, and escalate sensitive or complex matters appropriately and promptly
- Support leaders with foundational HR guidance across the associate lifecycle, including onboarding, role changes, position movement, time away, performance processes, and benefits
- Build and maintain trusted, collaborative relationships with Associates, leaders, and HR partners across the enterprise
- Partner closely with HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, Payroll, Benefits, Legal, and other stakeholders to resolve inquiries effectively
- Manage and document cases within HR systems (e.g., MyHR, Track
IT, People Soft), ensuring accuracy, data integrity, compliance, and confidentiality - Proactively identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve the Associate experience and recommend enhancements to HR processes and systems
- Build subject-matter credibility and strong connections with leaders and Associates across regions and centralized HR teams
- Stay current on HR policies, systems, and best practices through ongoing learning and development
- Contribute to HR Services team objectives by fostering a positive work environment, supporting colleagues, and helping meet broader business goals
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience preferred, or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role requiring strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated customer service experience managing high-volume and complex workloads while handling confidential information with discretion
- High level of computer literacy with the ability and willingness to learn new systems and digital tools
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to engage in constructive dialogue and provide clear guidance
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and apply critical thinking to assess and resolve Associate needs
- Proficient written, verbal, and listening communication skills with a high degree of professionalism
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and consistent follow-through
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and adapt to change
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification preferred
- Experience working with HRIS platforms such as SAP Success Factors, Workday, People Soft, and CRM systems
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed. Eligibility is dependent on the responsibilities of the role and business needs, and the Associate must agree to comply with Gore’s work arrangement policies.
