Job Title: Systems Operations Engineer 4 / Senior Mainframe Application Support Engineer
Location: Chandler, AZ (preferred) / Des Moines, IA – Hybrid (flexible shift within 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM PST)
Contract Length: 18mo (goal to convert; no sponsorship)
Pay Rate: $60 - $65
Top Requirements- 5+ years of Mainframe application production support experience
- Strong hands-on experience with JCL, COBOL, CICS, and DB2
- Experience working in high-volume, production-critical environments
- Experience with CA7, IDCAMS, and monitoring tools (Mainview, Dynatrace)
- Experience with MQ and enterprise messaging systems
- Experience with Service Now, Jira, and Confluence
- Experience supporting credit card, rewards, or financial applications
- Experience working in global/follow-the-sun support models
In this contingent resource assignment, you may:
Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Systems Operations Engineering. Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale or longer-term Systems Operations Engineering challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Contribute to the resolution of complex situations requiring solid understanding of policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.
- Provide Level 2/3 production support for Automated Credit, Rewards, and Credit Card Hub applications
- Monitor production systems to ensure uptime, stability, and performance
- Analyze and troubleshoot failed batch jobs using JCL
- Perform root cause analysis and support ad hoc job executions
- Partner with Production Control teams to restart and recover jobs
- Work across mainframe technologies including COBOL, CICS, DB2, CA7, IDCAMS
- Utilize file tools such as File Manager, File Analyzer, and EZTRIEV
- Support integrations and messaging through MQ
- Monitor systems using tools such as Mainview and Dynatrace
- Maintain incident tracking and updates in Service Now, Jira, and Confluence
- Document incidents, root causes, and create follow-up action items
- Work in a follow-the-sun model with offshore teams (India)
- Participate in daily handoffs and coordination across time zones
- Respond to application support mailboxes and business requests
