Unix/Linux system specialist with strong communication skills, excellent operational execution and troubleshooting skills.

You will be part of a team contributing to actively reducing the number of server vulnerabilities across the support scope. The server patch management effort includes targeting, scheduling, patch installation, governance and reporting to drive risk reduction. This role is primarily focused on OS server patch and Core Ancillary upgrades & installation and the associated communication, troubleshooting and change control efforts as part of monthly patching routines.

• Execute and oversee server patching during specified maintenance windows using a variety of mechanisms and tools, including Blade Logic jobs, custom scripts, and manual updates where required on more complex systems.
• Execute pre-checks to help ensure successful patching events and post-checks to ensure system stability and configuration consistency.
• Communicate regularly with application production support teams, platform engineering teams and level 3 systems operations teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve patch and server failures, escalating where needed. Identify network or infrastructure related problems quickly and manage remediation/escalation, serving as a bridge in explaining symptoms and troubleshooting performed to global operations teams if necessary.
• Develop scripts within Blade Logic to automate operating system patching and updates across multiple systems.
• Document and maintain operational procedures.

• Ability to work evenings / weekends.
• Excellent attention to detail to follow documented procedures, and continually offer suggestions to simplify and improve procedures.
• Complete working knowledge of operating system base health/welfare and x86 midrange IBM, HP, Dell hardware troubleshooting.
• Experience diagnosing, researching and resolving system platform related issues.
• Experience with Red Hat Linux 6.x, 7.x OS & Kernel, and Solaris.

• Experience scripting with Ansible, Perl, Shell, Python.
• Experience with VCS & RHCS clustering solutions for Redhat Linux.
• Experience with PXE, 10/40GB, Mellanox, Solar Flare Products and Technology.
