Akkodis is seeking IBM MQ Admin for a Contract job with a client in Chandler, AZ - Hybrid (3 days on site in a Week). Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the financial services industry.
Pay: $85-89/hour – All Inclusive; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors
We are seeking a Technology Services Lead – Messaging Services to drive middleware remediation, platform modernization, and security hardening across IBM MQ and Kafka-based environments
The role combines:
- Hands-on messaging platform engineering and architecture
- Leadership of large-scale remediation and upgrade initiatives
- Leading migration, upgrade, patching, and decommissioning of legacy messaging platforms (IBM MQ queue managers, brokers, legacy messaging tools
- Managing and optimizing IBM MQ infrastructure including queue managers, clusters, channels, and message flows
- Supporting and expanding Confluent Kafka adoption for event streaming and real-time data pipelines
- Enhancing platform security including TLS, certificate management, channel authentication, and vulnerability remediation
- Designing and implementing scalable, resilient messaging architectures (point-to-point, pub/sub, event streaming)
- Supporting global clients with onboarding, connectivity setup, and messaging best practices
- Driving operational excellence across a high-volume, mission-critical messaging platform
- Partnering with application teams to ensure reliable message delivery, performance tuning, and capacity planning
- Strong expertise in IBM MQ administration and engineering (queue managers, clustering, channels, security)
- Working knowledge of Confluent Kafka / Kafka ecosystem (topics, brokers, producers/consumers)
- Messaging configuration, routing, and performance tuningo Queue, topic, and channel designpatt ernso High availability and disaster recovery configurations
- Solid background in:
- Linux/Unix and Windows server management
- Git)
- Strong understanding of:
- Messaging patterns (point-to-point, publish/subscribe, event streaming) o Platform security, encryption, certificate management, and vulnerability remediation
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues at scale (latency, message backlogs, connectivity failures)
- Experience supporting 24x7 production messaging environments
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- IBM MQ certifications or equivalent experience
- Experience with:
- Observability tools (Dynatrace, Splunk) for messaging monitoring
- Event-driven architecture and real-time data streaming platforms programs
This role requires participation in on-call rotations and occasional weekend support.
