AI Prompt Engineer

A leading enterprise organization is seeking an AI Prompt Engineer
- Cybersecurity to join an innovative research and development team focused on advancing the use of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity. This role combines AI, software engineering, and security expertise to develop practical solutions that enhance security testing, vulnerability detection, and cyber defense capabilities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on builder with experience creating sophisticated prompts, developing AI-powered workflows, evaluating model performance, and transforming successful experiments into scalable solutions.

You will partner with cybersecurity researchers, software engineers, and technical stakeholders to solve complex security challenges using frontier AI technologies.

Location:

Hybrid. Candidates must be located in or able to work from one of the following locations:

  • Charlotte, NC
  • Chandler, AZ
  • Dallas, TX

Duration: 12+ Month Contract Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience designing and optimizing advanced prompts for large language models and generative AI systems
  • Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications, workflows, evaluation frameworks, or automation solutions
  • Strong understanding of prompt engineering best practices, model behavior, context management, testing, and optimization
  • Experience working with modern AI platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar technologies
  • Professional software development experience
  • Proficiency with Python, Go,.NET, or other modern programming languages
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience rapidly prototyping, testing, refining, and deploying technical solutions
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity concepts including vulnerability assessments, security testing, penetration testing, network security, and authentication security

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with SAST, DAST, vulnerability discovery, and security scanning tools
  • Knowledge of malware analysis, threat research, red teaming, or AI security
  • Experience integrating AI solutions with APIs, databases, and enterprise data platforms
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Cloud SQL, or similar databases
  • Cloud platform experience
  • Experience with Kubernetes or containerized environments
  • Experience product ionizing AI and LLM-based solutions
  • Background in cybersecurity research, threat hunting, or security operations

What You Will Be Doing

Daily Responsibilities: 100% Hands On

  • Design and develop advanced AI prompts for cybersecurity-focused use cases
  • Build and enhance AI/LLM workflows that support security testing and research initiatives
  • Evaluate emerging AI models and determine optimal approaches for cybersecurity applications
  • Apply AI techniques to vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, perimeter analysis, and threat detection
  • Analyze AI-generated outputs and identify meaningful security risks
  • Develop data collection and processing workflows for security operations teams
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and security professionals to deliver actionable solutions
  • Continuously test, refine, and improve AI-driven capabilities based on real-world results
  • Stay current with advancements in AI, prompt engineering, cybersecurity, and emerging threats
