The Field Panel Wiring Technician is responsible for wiring and assembling custom control panels and electrical equipment used in industrial applications. This role requires hands‑on skill, attention to detail, and the ability to read and follow technical documentation to ensure assemblies meet IPS’s high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Wire and assemble control panels, switch gear, switchboards, and automatic transfer switches (ATSs)
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams to complete assignments independently and accurately
- Wire electronic components such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Assemble electrical switchboard equipment and sub-assemblies
- Inspect and test finished products to verify compliance with IPS quality standards, NEC, and applicable codes
- Maintain steady progress on assigned jobs and report any problem areas or parts shortages
- Exhibit teamwork, supporting peers during high-demand periods by flexing hours or working overtime as needed
- Follow IPS’s safety culture and professional standards in all work performed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Ability to work and contribute effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to follow detailed manufacturing drawings and written instructions
- Commitment to health and safety practices; actively observe and correct unsafe conditions
- Prior experience in electrical assembly or control wiring strongly preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in electrical termination work
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs when required
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, or maintain positions for prolonged periods depending on task
- Use of required PPE, including gloves, goggles, and other protective equipment
Work will take place at IPS facilities in Arizona, in both office and shop settings. The pace is fast, and priorities may shift as projects and customer needs evolve.
