Travel RN - Labor & Delivery

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring C-section experience and active AZ or compact RN licensure.

Job Details

• Acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 18 LDRPs, a 14-bed OB triage, and an 8-bed Antepartum unit,

• High-volume unit averaging 8-10 deliveries per day (approximately 3,800+ per year),

• Patient population includes laboring and preterm pregnant patients at 28 weeks gestation and greater (Level II EQ designation),

• Nurse-to-patient ratios generally follow AWHONN guidelines: 2:1 for labor, 4:1 for Antepartum, and 1:1 for C-sections,

• Unit includes 2 fully equipped OR suites for C-sections,

• Charting via Cerner EMR;
Fetal Link used for electronic fetal monitoring (EFM),

• Night shift, 12-hour shifts ),

• 4 weekend shifts required per schedule,

• Floating to Mother-Baby/Postpartum when needed; may also float to a sister facility,

• No mandatory on-call; standby is voluntary,

Job Requirements

• Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration - pending licenses not accepted,

• Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required,

• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP - pending certifications not accepted,

• Hands-on C-section experience required, including ability to confidently circulate and recover C-section patients,

• Computer charting experience required;
Cerner experience strongly preferred,

• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) with a score of 80% or higher prior to offer confirmation (maximum 2 attempts),

• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,

• Copy of driver's license required for consideration,

• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license),

• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by a Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include titrating Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate per protocol; scrubbing C-sections is not required,

• Patients are transferred to Postpartum after delivery,

• OB Hospitalist, Anesthesia, RT, IV Team, and Pharmacy are all available in-house 24/7,

• Floor-specific orientation is 1 week; a pass/fail simulation lab is conducted on day 1 of orientation (study guides provided),

• Scrub color is blue,

• Holiday coverage is appreciated but not mandatory,

• Travelers who fail the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or the sterile technique test on a second attempt will be ineligible for Common Spirit AZ and Sacramento-region positions for 6 months
