This labor and delivery assignment in Chandler, AZ offers an immersive experience in a busy, high-acuity maternity unit. As a circulating nurse, you’ll be actively involved in assisting with C‑sections, monitoring laboring patients, and ensuring smooth operation in a fast‑paced environment. Expect to work 12‑hour night shifts, where your skills in computer charting—and familiarity with Cerner—will be essential. The role emphasizes safe staffing levels aligned with AWHONN guidelines, with most nurse‑to‑patient ratios around 2:1, but flexibility is key given the unit’s varied patient acuity.
Prepare for a comprehensive orientation including a week of unit‑specific training and a pass/fail sim lab, along with the requirement to pass a dysrhythmia exam before acceptance. The assignment promises a rewarding chance to work alongside experienced OB Hospitalists and an in‑house RT team, handling laboring and preterm pregnant patients with gestation 28 weeks and above in a Level II EQ trauma setting.
