American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of experience and AZ or compact RN licensure at a Level 1 trauma acute care facility.

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital setting
• 29-bed unit with all private rooms
• Nurse to patient ratio of 4-5:1
• Common diagnoses include renal, GI, sepsis, and mental health
• Manages drips including Heparin, Lasix, Amiodarone, and Cardizem (titration not required)
• Remote monitor techs support the unit, but RNs are required to interpret strips and identify rhythm changes using GE cardiac monitors
• Charge nurse without patient assignment on both day and night shifts; house supervisors available 24/7
• Nurse aides available on day shift only; night shift is primary patient care
• RT available 24/7 to assist; unit supports up to 6L oxygen (no high flow or BiPAP); RNs administer all breathing treatments
• 12-hour day and night shifts  and ) with self-scheduling
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 3 weekend shifts required per schedule period (day shift Sat/Sun, night shift Fri/Sat)
• Holiday rotation required, including 2 major winter holidays and 1 major summer holiday

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• EKG competency required, with ECG pass/fail exam required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Cardiac monitoring experience and groin management skills required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam through UNA within 48 hours of receiving an offer (maximum 2 attempts)
• Must pass a Sim Lab test on day 1 of orientation
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

• Provide direct patient care on a busy telemetry unit including drip management and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Clinical interview required prior to offer (no manager interview)
• 2 orientation shifts provided with a preceptor
• Navy blue scrubs required; no t-shirts; closed-toe shoes required
• Travelers are placed into a holiday block schedule shared with core staff
• Schedules are posted 4 weeks in advance on a first-come, first-served self-scheduling basis; requested shifts may be adjusted to ensure adequate staffing
• Failure to pass the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exam on the second attempt results in a 6-month do-not-use status with Common Spirit Arizona and Sacramento facilities
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility within the past year
• Travelers often extend or convert to permanent staff at this facility
