American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and recent cardiac telemetry experience.
Details- Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting on a 32-bed CV Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes post cath lab, post vascular procedure, and day 2 CABG patients, along with general telemetry patients age 15 and older
- Patient ratios of 1:3-4
- Charge nurse and clinical supervisor available without a patient assignment
- PCT support provided at a ratio of 1 tech per 16 patients
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Centralized telemetry monitoring, RNs must be able to interpret EKGs
- 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7am
- Every other weekend required
- Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
- First to float among staff, to similar or lower acuity units
- No ventilator management, IV team, or dedicated pediatric patients on this unit
- Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
- Hospitalist rounds during the day and is on call overnight
- Active AZ state or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required, within the past 6 months
- Ability to interpret EKGs required
- Must pass the Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam 24-48 hours prior to position acceptance, with a maximum of 2 attempts
- Must pass a Pass/Fail sterile technique exam on day 1 of orientation, with an emphasis on sterile field
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Provide telemetry nursing care for cardiac and post-procedural patients, including titrating down medications such as Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Dobutamine
- 2 days of floor-specific orientation provided
- Navy scrub color required
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as determined by driver's license address
- Candidates who failed the Dysrhythmia exam or sterile technique test on a second attempt are ineligible for 6 months at this facility group
- Candidates directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any facility within this health system in the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
