Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a qualified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to join our team. This position will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced medical-surgical unit.
Unit Information
- Unit:
Med Surg B2D - Number of Beds: 30
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4 for both days and nights
- Administrative Support:
Charge Nurse available (does not take patients) and Unit Supervisor - Nurse Aides:
Patient Care Technicians on days, with one PCT or SWAT RN on nights for task support
Shift and Weekend Requirements
- Shifts:
12-hour shifts, 7 AM to 7 PM - Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (Saturday and Sunday for daytime shifts; Friday and Saturday for nights)
- Holiday Requirement:
One major and one minor holiday per year
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the past 6 months
- Must possess current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start, with a maximum of 2 attempts allowed within 48 hours of the job offer
- Ability to read cardiac strips is essential
Patient Population
This unit primarily serves patients with general medical conditions and orthopedic trauma, including those requiring chest tubes, drains, and wound vacs. The unit may also accommodate patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis, with contract dialysis services managing their care. Medications such as Amiodarone and Cardizem may be titrated down as per protocols.

- Orientation:
Floor-specific orientation for 2 shifts - Support Staff:
House SWAT Nurse available for difficult IV access;
Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services available 24/7 - Monitoring: GE Monitors with a central station for continuous observation
- Cancellation Policy:
The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
