A Nurse Extern who excels in this role:

• Performs direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a registered nurse while monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition appropriately.
• Maintains positive professional relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and health care team.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Applicants should be currently enrolled in nursing school and in their third years or higher of the program. Additional requirements include:

• Certification:
  Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire
• Required Skills:
  
  Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while taking appropriate action.

Valley View Medical Center 102,000-square-foot acute-care facility with two adjacent medical office buildings offering exceptional care to community. We have 52 medical/surgical beds, 12 acute rehabilitation beds, 12 intensive care beds, and an 8 bed labor, delivery and post-partum unit, 16 Bed Emergency Department and Valley View Medical Center is the only all private bed hospital serving the Bullhead City/Laughlin/Needles area.
