American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN II for a Tele Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of experience, cardiac drip titration skills, and an active AZ or compact RN license.
Details- Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting floating between Tele, Med Surg, Cardiac Tele, and Neuro units
- Floats between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses, with notification of unit/campus given 1.5 hours prior to shift start
- May float mid-shift between units and occasionally between campuses
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
- 4 weekend shifts required per scheduled period
- First to float among staff
- Cardiac Tele (B3A): 32-bed unit, 1:3-4 ratio, treats post-cath, post-vascular, and day 2 CABG patients, titrates Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Dobutamine down only
- Neuro Tele (A3): 28-bed unit, 1:3-4 ratio, treats post-surgical neuro, post-cranis, spine, and post-TPA CVA patients, no ICP monitoring
- Med Surg C5: 32-bed Ortho/Surgical/Oncology unit, 1:4 ratio, 8-10 elective knee/hip surgeries weekly
- Med Surg B2C: 29-bed general Med Surg unit, 1:4 ratio, titrates Amio and Cardizem down only, designated new grad training unit
- Centralized telemetry monitoring with RN required to interpret EKGs on cardiac/neuro units
- GE monitors with central monitoring station tech on Med Surg units
- RT and Pharmacy available 24/7 on all units
- No IV team; SWAT RN available for difficult IV access on Med Surg units
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required, no pending licenses accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required for Neuro unit
- Must be able to titrate cardiac drips
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer, prior to contract signing (maximum 2 attempts)
- Must pass a pass/fail Sim Lab competency test on day one of orientation
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Provide telemetry and Med Surg nursing care across multiple units based on real-time staffing needs
- Floor-specific orientation provided (2 days/shifts depending on unit)
- Navy scrub color required across units
- Charge nurses and unit/clinical supervisors available on all units without patient assignments
- Candidates who fail the dysrhythmia exam or Sim Lab test on second attempt will be ineligible to work with Common Spirit Arizona or Sacramento facilities for 6 months
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; prior PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
- Must maintain permanent residence at least 50 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers may be considered
