Job Summary:

Can perform receiving, final, or customer based verification/inspection on product before shipping direct to customer stock. Must ensure product and paperwork is in accordance to specifications, drawings, purchase orders, and processes. Utilizing your expertise, you will verify product and document packages against engineering/customer drawings, purchase orders and other contractual requirements as specified by operations. Complies with AS9100 / ISO 9001 and other quality system standards.

Such activities may include the following as well as other duties as assigned:

Principal Responsibilities:
  • May assist engineering with the review of customer, industry and other technical specifications to ensure compliance.
  • Conducts random, scheduled and/or unscheduled audits to determine conformance to customer specifications and technical drawings, manufacturers' specifications, assembly manual requirements, company processes and procedures and other such specifications and requirements.
  • May perform root cause analyses by inspecting and evaluating material returns, reviewing documentation, interviewing employees and assessing conformance to quality assurance standards to determine the cause of defects, malfunctions or process breakdowns.
  • Maintains data and logs data quality, returned material, supplier information, nonconformance to build procedures, errors, findings and recommendations to use for trend analyses.
  • Prepares required product return documentation to supplier for failure analysis and monitors corrective action response.
  • May coordinate or assist in developing and maintaining all International Organization for Standardization (ISO) system documentation, including work instructions and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Identifies, investigates, and participates in opportunities to improve processes and procedures, to include various key performance metrics.
  • May perform drawing, specification and other technical documentation review.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Extensive knowledge of the organization, job, practices and procedures, enabling a high level of contribution.
  • Completes complex assignments requiring significant judgment, initiative and problem solving skills.
  • Work is performed under minimal guidance and assigned in the form of desired expectations. Independent judgment is used to determine best approach and creativity is expected to achieve maximum results and handle new situations.
  • Collaboration with internal or external contacts. May participate on teams for special assignments. Responds to requests from senior management, internal and/or external contacts.
  • Actions may have significant impact to department as well as others. Errors may be difficult to detect and remedy and potentially result in loss of customer business, materials, money and/or time.
Work Experience:
  • Typically requires a minimum of five years of related experience.
Education and Certification(s):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Distinguishing Characteristics:
  • Position may require travel
  • Experience with any of the following: receiving inspection, in process inspection, final inspection, source inspection, or 1st article validation including AS9102 FAIR's
  • Knowledge of QA process with nonconforming material
  • Customer delegated source quality inspection or DQR/DSQR certifications or experience with Collins/UTAS Aerospace inspection is a major plus
