Plant Grow Harvest is looking for a hands‑on Safety Specialist to help build and execute PGH’s Safety First system from the ground up. This is a high‑impact role for someone who has real workplace safety experience in manufacturing, warehouse, food processing, agriculture, industrial, or plant operations environment.
This is not a desk‑only safety role. The Safety Specialist will spend significant time on the floor and in the field, working directly with supervisors and employees to identify risks, improve safe behaviors, strengthen documentation, support compliance, and build a strong safety culture.
The ideal candidate is practical, organized, assertive, and comfortable building systems where they do not yet fully exist.
What You Will BuildIn the first 90 days, the Safety Specialist will help establish PGH’s foundational Safety/EHS systems, including:
- Safety policies and procedures
- Incident reporting process
- OSHA compliance documentation
- Safety training records
- Inspection and audit tracking
- Corrective and preventive action tracking
- SMETA‑related safety documentation
- Safety integration into onboarding and SOPs
After the first 90 days, the role will transition into ongoing execution, training, audits, inspections, investigations, metrics, and safety culture adoption across the organization.
AccountabilitiesDesign, implement, and continuously improve PGH’s EHS systems, including policies, SOPs, documentation, and compliance frameworks.
Own compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and SMETA requirements, including:
- OSHA 300 logs
- Documentation readiness
- Audit support and corrective actions
Ensure all incidents are:
- Reported immediately
- Properly documented
- Investigated for root cause
- Followed by corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Embed a Safety First culture by:
- Training employees and supervisors
- Reinforcing safe behaviors
- Coaching teams to take ownership of safety
- Supporting supervisors in identifying and correcting unsafe conditions
- Helping employees feel responsible for their own safety and the safety of others
Track and report key metrics:
- Incident rates
- Near misses
- Safety compliance
- Environmental metrics
- Conduct safety audits and inspections
- Deliver safety training across shifts
- Support incident and near‑miss investigations
- Maintain OSHA and safety documentation
- Support emergency preparedness and drill documentation
- Partner with operations to reduce risk
- Support corrective actions from audits and inspections
- Build practical tools, checklists, SOPs, and tracking systems
Coach supervisors and employees on safe work practices
- 2+ years of hands‑on workplace safety experience in manufacturing, warehouse, food processing, agriculture, industrial, logistics, plant, or similar operational environment
- Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, incident reporting, or incident investigations
- Experience training or coaching employees on safety procedures
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Ability to work hands‑on in plant, warehouse, and field environments
- Strong communication and influence skills
- Builder mindset: able to create systems, processes, and documentation from scratch
- Comfortable working directly with supervisors, employees, and operations teams
- Bilingual English/Spanish
