Position Summary

The Calibration Technician is responsible for performing, coordinating, and tracking all calibration, repair, and asset management activities for measurement and test equipment used across Comtech’s operational areas. This role ensures compliance with internal quality procedures, maintains equipment readiness, and supports both internal laboratories and external calibration vendors to keep equipment in tolerance and available for production, engineering, and test operations.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all scheduled internal calibrations performed within the Calibration Lab environment per approved instructions
  • Coordinate external calibrations through approved manufacturers or third‑party vendors
  • Manage external calibration flow with Comtech’s current local vendor, including weekly Thursday pick‑up/delivery logistics from the Receiving area
  • Coordinate repairs for equipment requiring service outside normal calibration scope
  • Utilize OEM repair centers or approved third‑party providers
  • Manage activities under existing Repair Service Agreement with vendors
  • Maintain the Calibration Lab’s equipment asset program, including logbook oversight and electronic record updates
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation of asset numbers, serial numbers, model numbers, manufacturer, location, calibration intervals, and history records per calibration procedure requirements
  • Coordinate CAPEX equipment actions with Accounting
  • Maintain accurate location tracking for all equipment and update Fluke/Metrak records accordingly
  • Coordinate acquisition, return, and tracking of rental equipment
  • Manage stored rental and Intelsat boxes located in the Mezzanine
  • Generate and send monthly Calibration Due Notices, covering equipment due in the upcoming two months
  • Support the recall system by notifying area managers of due or past‑due items, arranging retrieval, and ensuring equipment is not used out‑of‑tolerance per procedural requirements
  • Maintain all calibration‑related documentation in the Calibration Lab and in Fluke/Metrak, including certificates, history records, repair documentation, and calibration status labels
  • Ensure compliance with internal documentation control procedures
  • Maintain and file controlled documents
  • Follow environmental and procedural requirements for performing calibrations as defined in approved calibration instructions (manufacturer, internal, or lab‑developed)
  • Use appropriate standards, environmental controls, and data‑recording methods
  • Ensure equipment is properly labeled with certification labels, void seals, and limited‑use labels where required
Requirements
  • Prior experience in calibration laboratories or metrology environments
  • Familiarity with electronics test equipment, RF instruments, and measurement standards
  • Ability to learn and adhere to Comtech Satellite Network Technologies procedures and quality systems
Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of calibration processes, measurement science, traceability, and use of M&TE standards
  • Ability to follow highly detailed calibration instructions and quality procedures. Experience with calibration databases such as Fluke/Metrak
  • Strong organizational skills for managing asset inventories, due dates, and workflow
  • Ability to coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Understanding of production, engineering, and QA environments
Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience

The pay range reflects the expected base salary for this position. Final compensation will be based on role, level, skills, experience, and geographic location.
