Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Sr. Calibration Tech Lead is a hands‑on technical and operational lead for the calibration function at Pac Sci EMC's Chandler, Arizona site. This role combines advanced calibration expertise with day‑to‑day workflow leadership, prioritization, mentorship, and cross‑functional coordination. Approximately 70% of the role is hands‑on calibration work, including work performed directly in production environments on equipment that cannot be sent off‑site.

The position serves as a primary focal point for calibration priorities, backlog reduction, technical problem solving, audit support, and communication with internal stakeholders. This is a technical lead role without direct people‑management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform advanced hands‑on calibration activities across a broad range of commercial and internally developed equipment, with demonstrated capability across multiple electrical, physical/mechanical, and dimensional calibration disciplines. Equipment may include DC/AC voltage and current, resistance, capacitance, force, temperature, mass, torque, and dimensional measurement systems.
  • Spend approximately 70% of the role performing hands‑on calibration activities, including work directly within production environments to calibrate equipment that cannot be removed or sent to external calibration providers.
  • Serve as the technical and operational lead for the calibration team without direct people‑management responsibility, providing day‑to‑day direction, work prioritization, technical guidance, mentorship, and support to calibration technicians.
  • Own day‑to‑day calibration workflow, prioritization, and scheduling. Develop and execute strategies with the calibration team to reduce equipment and tooling backlog while maintaining equipment availability and supporting production priorities.
  • Act as a primary operational focal point for the calibration function, communicating priorities, status, constraints, performance indicators, and improvement opportunities to leadership, production, engineering, quality, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote accountability and ownership within the calibration team while supporting technician training, capability development, and continuous improvement.
  • Document calibration, verification, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with internal quality requirements, applicable standards, and cross‑functional communication needs.
  • Serve as a metrology subject matter expert during internal and external audits, engineering reviews, and quality inspections. Support investigations by reproducing or validating measurement setups when results are questioned.
  • Perform and coordinate on‑site calibration activities for equipment maintained internally while managing equipment sent to external calibration and repair providers. Review returned equipment and calibration documentation to verify services meet purchase‑order and internal quality requirements before equipment is returned to service.
  • Maintain calibration standards and laboratory equipment in fully serviceable condition, ensuring preventive, corrective, and functional maintenance is completed as required.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and production teams to develop, update, and improve calibration procedures, measurement practices, accuracy, repeatability, and usability.
  • Communicate calibration requirements, constraints, equipment status, and technical issues clearly to production and cross‑functional stakeholders, helping teams understand priorities and the impact of calibration requirements on operations.
