City of Chandler Police Department, Police Detention Unit is currently seeking qualified individuals to join as Detention Supervisor
. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. The Police Detention Unit is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This position requires various schedules to include days, swing-shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period. See the minimal and desired qualifications for more information.
It is anticipated that oral interviews and other assessments will be held on June 11, 2026.

City of Chandler Police Department, consisting of 348 sworn officers and 192 civilians, serves a growing population of approximately 290,000 residents. The organization is divided into three main divisions, one bureau, and many sections/units. The Patrol Operations Division has three precincts:
1) Main Station - Downtown & North Chandler,
2) Desert Breeze - West Chandler, and
3) Chandler Heights - South Chandler, working in concert with the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Operational Support Bureau, and Professional Services Division to meet the needs of the community. Responsibilities- Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, facilitating access to resources and training, providing guidance and addressing issues, conducting interviews and making hiring decisions.
- Perform the duties of a Detention Officer.
- Develop unit policies and procedures.
- Oversee the general care and custody of arrestees and detainees.
- Conduct holding facility inspections.
- Prepare reports.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries.
- Must possess a High School or GED equivalency.
- Must have 4‑years’ experience as a detention officer, or a related role or position; and
- Must possess a DPS Terminal Operator Level B upon hire; and
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work may be substituted for the required years of experience.
- Current City of Chandler, Police Detention Unit employees.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Police Lieutenant. This position exercises supervision over detention center personnel.
