As a Security Officer at Banner Ocotillo Medical Center, you will respond to emergencies and provide safety and security for patients, visitors, and staff. You will patrol service areas, handle alarms, maintain a secure environment, and support emergency response agencies.
Shift ScheduleOur Security team works 3 12‑hour shifts and a half day to complete your forty hour work week (both days and nights):
- Shift A (Sun‑Wed):
Sunday‑Tuesday 6:00am–6:00pm, then half Wednesday 6:00am–12:00noon. - Shift B (Wed‑Sat): half Wednesday 12:00pm–6:00pm, then Thursday‑Saturday 6:00am–6:00pm.
- Shift C (Sun‑Wed):
Sunday‑Tuesday 6:00pm–6:00am, then half Wednesday 6:00pm–12:00midnight. - Shift D (Wed‑Sat): half Wednesday 12:00am–6:00am, then Thursday‑Saturday 6:00pm–6:00am.
Must pass the functional capacity evaluation: 44 steps and 20 partial burpees in under 2 minutes.
Responsibilities- Patrol facilities and grounds; assist with safety of personnel and patients; investigate critical incidents.
- Respond to all emergency codes; control incidents and maintain a secure environment.
- Assist medical staff in restraining trouble/combative patients; enforce security policies; set alarms and secure doors.
- Conduct money pick‑ups, log pick‑ups, escort patients and staff, participate in security lead training.
- Maintain current knowledge of laws and regulations; use non‑lethal weapons per policy.
- Investigate and report complaints, incidents, and unusual activity; keep accurate shift logs.
- Testify in criminal court and state hearings when required.
- Assist in maintaining and preserving confidential health documents as needed.
- Report directly to the Security Supervisor or OIC.
- Required security certifications.
- Valid driver’s license; eligible for company auto insurance coverage.
- Ability to observe, make judgments, and write comprehensive security reports.
- Completion of all required security departmental training, including the Basic Officer Academy.
- Professional appearance and strong verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with assigned non‑lethal weapons.
- Physical ability to perform required tasks; demonstrated through testing.
- Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and throughout employment.
- Criminal History Affidavit for staff at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital.
- Prior law enforcement, military, corrections, healthcare, or advanced security experience.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
