. The City of Chandler Police Department, Operational Support Bureau, is seeking qualified individuals to join our team as Civilian Elementary Education Engagement Specialist. This is a part‑time, non‑exempt position with no benefits and no Arizona State Retirement System pension. The anticipated work schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (19 or fewer hours per week). The position provides direct education and support within the elementary and middle schools of the Chandler Unified School District.

The City of Chandler Police Department consists of 362 sworn officers and 177 civilians, serving a growing population of close to 287,945 residents. Our organization is divided into three divisions, one bureau, and many sections and units. The Patrol Operations Division, with three precincts—Main Station (Downtown & North Chandler), Desert Breeze (West Chandler), and Chandler Heights (South Chandler)—work in concert with the Criminal Investigations Division, Operational Support Division, and Professional Services Division to meet community needs.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. They should possess an outgoing personality, a positive attitude, and the ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks. In addition, candidates must be able to instruct elementary education law‑related classes to primarily sixth‑grade students, work independently with minimal guidance, and function effectively as part of a team.

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Must have at least two years of prior work experience as a sworn law enforcement officer or retired law enforcement officer, must have left in good standing, and must no longer be employed as a sworn officer with any law enforcement agency.
• Must possess or be able to attain a valid Arizona driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must not have been convicted of a felony, a misdemeanor involving moral character, false statements, perjury or domestic violence, or have received a dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces.

• Experience working as a former Drug Resistance Education Officer (D.A.R.E.), School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) or similar.
• Having a general instructor certification in your state along with instruction experience for law‑enforcement personnel and or civilians.
• Experience instructing classes for K‑12 or college students.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Police Sergeant or designated supervisor. This position does not supervise others.
