Team Fishel, the Best Choice in Utility Construction since 1936, is hiring Low-Voltage Technicians at our Phoenix, AZ, office.

Position Summary

The Low Voltage Technician II is an experienced field technician responsible for independently installing, terminating, programming, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting low-voltage systems. This position performs work with minimal supervision, mentors entry-level technicians, coordinates daily field activities, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.

  • Independently install, terminate, label, test, and certify Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Install and commission structured cabling systems in commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and government facilities.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot IP-based access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, and network infrastructure systems.
  • Install and terminate fiber optic backbone cabling, including fusion splicing, testing, OTDR analysis, and certification.
  • Perform copper certification using Fluke test equipment and troubleshoot cabling deficiencies.
  • Install cable tray, conduit, J-hooks, sleeves, grounding, and support systems while maintaining proper cable management.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, riser diagrams, one-line diagrams, and wiring schematics.
  • Identify and resolve installation issues while coordinating with project managers, general contractors, customers, and other trades.
  • Program, commission, and verify operation of access control panels, card readers, IP cameras, network video recorders, and associated devices.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, PoE devices, switches, and structured cabling systems.
  • Complete quality inspections and verify installations meet company, customer, NEC, BICSI, and manufacturer standards.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings, redlines, testing documentation, and daily field reports.
  • Assist with project scheduling, material verification, and inventory management.
  • Mentor and train Technician I employees on installation methods, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Lead small crews or assigned work areas while maintaining production schedules.
  • Promote a culture of safety by following OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 to 5 years of commercial low-voltage installation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience installing structured cabling, fiber optics, access control, and IP video surveillance systems.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot system issues and complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BICSI Installer 2 or Technician Certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Manufacturer certifications such as Verkada, Genetec, LenelS2, Avigilon, Axis Communications, Comm Scope, Panduit, or equivalent.
  • Experience with fiber fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and Fluke certification.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, PoE, and switch configuration.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and rooftops.
  • Bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Travel to multiple project sites and occasional overnight travel as required.
