Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

In this role, you will work with a team dedicated to ensuring public services are provided promptly, efficiently, and safely. You will operate County equipment and vehicles to help construct and maintain roads and related structures. You will also install and maintain roadway traffic control for construction zones in accordance with the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) and County procedures and quality standards.

Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZWe Require One year of experience in traffic control, or traffic operations, including installation and maintenance of traffic control devices, or two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or construction of roads

High school diploma or GEDOther Requirements Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

Must possess or have the ability to obtain an American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Flagging certification within six months of hire

We Also Value Experience working in the public sector

Experience in a maintenance environment, including mowing, sweeping, tree trimming, sprinkler repair, and/or weed spraying

Job Contributions Install and maintain traffic control signing and barricading during emergencies and floods. Prepare, clean, and maintain traffic control devices for lane/road closures, detours, bypasses, and shoulder work in County work zones, in accordance with Federal, State, and County traffic control plans

Inspect barricades, lights, signs, sandbags, and sign spacing daily to ensure proper traffic control set-ups. Provide flagging for work zones, including the use of STOP/SLOW paddles or handheld radios.

Create work orders and tasks, complete daily written reports, enter information into the asset management system (Cartegraph), and document pre-trip/post-trip inspections on all assigned equipment

Participate in special projects, emergencies, Palo Verde drills/exercises, and flooded roadway response; be on call/standby 24 hours for emergency requests. Install and program message boards and speed monitors for special events throughout Maricopa County, as needed

Install and maintain traffic control signing and barricading during emergencies and floods.

Perform manual labor assignments and load/unload materials, supplies, and equipment, and deliver to job sites as directed
