Lead Technician

Join Komatsu and be part of something big! The Lead Technician is a critical shop leadership role responsible for coordinating workflow, setting daily priorities, and helping ensure jobs move efficiently through the shop. This position is onsite Monday - Thursday in our Mesa shop, which can vary based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate shop workflow and determine job priorities based on business needs.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to decide which jobs should be completed first and ensure smooth execution.
  • Review and develop job scopes to support accurate planning and execution.
  • Verify parts lists and confirm required materials are available before work begins.
  • Supervise hourly workforce to Komatsu policies, procedures, 5S, and safety standards.
  • Oversee quality of work and keep Cost of Poor Quality low as set by Komatsu.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the heavy mechanical shop.
  • Ensure equipment is in top working condition by doing audits and maintenance.
  • Perform field service maintenance and repairs on electric mining shovels, primarily in open-pit mine environments.
  • Change and rebuild major shovel components (hoist, swing & propell transmissions, & large gear cases).
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot complex equipment systems.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in performing maintenance and repairs on electric mining shovels or electric drive haul trucks, including rebuilding components and large gear cases.
  • Safety focused planning and performing complex repairs with a high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, machining drawings, and Komatsu operating procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Prior use with SAP preferred but not required.
