Construction Helper
The Construction Helper supports a wide range of construction activities, including building grids and structures, assisting with wall penetrations and sublayers for clean rooms, installing racks and tools, and performing basic site cleanup. This role involves frequent use of hand and power tools, working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, and safely handling and moving materials and equipment. The position offers hands-on experience in general construction, assembly, and equipment rigging while following strict safety procedures.
Responsibilities- Build construction grids using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Assist with wall penetrations and the construction of floors, walls, ceilings, and cleanroom sublayers.
- Perform basic construction tasks, including building structures, installing racks, and installing tools and equipment.
- Organize materials and perform basic site cleanup, including disposing of debris and maintaining a tidy work area.
- Work in outdoor environments in both hot and cold conditions as required by the project.
- Lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds safely and efficiently.
- Follow all site-specific safety rules and procedures at all times.
- Use hand and power tools for construction, assembly, and installation tasks.
- Build aluminum trusses and participate in large part assembly work.
- Support tool installation by moving racking systems and heavy equipment.
- Assist with rigging and moving heavy equipment and materials.
- Work within a buddy system to ensure safety and support during tasks.
- Learn to operate forklifts and scissor lifts, and apply this knowledge to moving materials and equipment when trained.
- Measure and mark materials accurately using tape measures and levels.
- Handle general labor tasks such as loading, cleaning, landscaping-related work, and material handling.
- Apply basic carpentry, framing, drywall, and concrete skills as needed on various projects.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and ensure they are stored securely.
- Adhere to cleanroom protocols when required, including wearing appropriate protective attire.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and meet project timelines.
- Previous experience using hand tools for construction, framing, carpentry, or similar work in residential or commercial settings.
- Ability to perform basic construction duties, including building structures, assisting with framing, and handling materials.
- Comfort with rigging or using forklifts to move materials, or similar material-handling experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
- Willingness to work in both outdoor environments and cleanroom settings, including wearing specialized protective attire when required.
- Ability to follow detailed safety rules and procedures consistently.
- Basic measurement skills using tape measures, levels, and squares.
- Reliability in adhering to early start times and extended work hours, including overtime and occasional Saturdays.
- Strong teamwork skills and comfort working within a buddy system for safety and task completion.
Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 10 training is preferred; training will be provided if not already obtained.
- Experience in carpentry, framing, drywall, concrete work, or general construction labor.
- Experience with production environments or assembly work.
- Familiarity with forklift and scissor lift operation is preferred, with willingness to learn and be trained.
- Experience in landscaping or general labor roles is beneficial.
- Ability to read and use tape measures accurately for construction measurements.
- Comfort with loading, cleaning, and general site maintenance tasks.
- Ownership and use of mandatory personal tools, including claw hammer, plastic hammer, vise grips, combination and socket wrench set (3/8 to 7/8), flat and Phillips screwdrivers, side cutters or tin snips, level, 25' to 30' tape measure, crescent wrench, 10" channel lock pliers, combination square, assorted Allen set (1/8" through 3/8"), flat bar, and a lockable plastic toolbox with lock.
- Willingness to participate in extensive training across multiple construction trades.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a buddy system environment.
This is a permanent position based out of Chandler, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
