DescriptionTeam Fishel, the Best Choice in Utility Construction since 1936, is hiring Low-Voltage Technicians at our Chandler, AZ, office.
Position Summary
The Low Voltage Technician I is an entry-level field technician responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low-voltage systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. This position works under the direction of a Lead Technician or Project Manager while following industry standards, customer specifications, and company safety policies. The technician assists with structured cabling, access control, video surveillance, fiber optics, wireless infrastructure, and other integrated technology systems.
- Install, pull, route, and secure Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
- Install cable support systems including J-hooks, cable trays, conduit, sleeves, and backboards.
- Terminate copper and fiber cabling to patch panels, keystone jacks, equipment, and field devices.
- Install and support access control systems, including card readers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, request-to-exit devices, and control panels.
- Install IP cameras, camera mounts, network video recorders (NVRs), and associated surveillance equipment.
- Assist with installation of wireless access points, intercoms, paging systems, and audio/visual equipment.
- Perform cable testing, certification, labeling, and documentation using industry-standard test equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Troubleshoot cable faults, device connectivity, and basic network-related issues.
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation and daily project reports.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and testing equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site while providing professional customer service.
- Follow OSHA regulations, NEC requirements, BICSI standards, and all company safety procedures.
- Work effectively with project managers, foremen, customers, and other trades to complete projects on schedule and within quality standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 0 to 2 years of low-voltage, telecommunications, or construction experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of structured cabling systems and network infrastructure.
- Ability to read construction drawings and follow installation specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening when applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Installer, Technician, or equivalent certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with fiber optic termination and testing.
- Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP and PoE devices.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Travel to project sites as required.
