The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all production, packaging, cooking, and facility equipment at Gummi World operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. This individual performs preventative maintenance, diagnoses and resolves mechanical and electrical failures, supports new equipment installation and qualification, and partners with production teams to minimize downtime. The role spans three levels over time but we are currently looking for a Technician I — each requiring progressively deeper technical expertise, independence, and leadership.
All levels are expected to be hands-on, safety-first, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused every shift.
- Basic mechanical aptitude — hand tools, fasteners, lubrication, basic inspections
- Follows preventative maintenance schedules under supervision
- Performs basic equipment cleaning, adjustments, and part replacement with guidance
- Learns and follows LOTO, GMP, and safety procedures
- Assists senior technicians on troubleshooting and installations
- Completes work orders and maintenance logs accurately in Net Suite
- Builds foundational knowledge of conveyor systems, packaging equipment, and production line machinery
- Independently troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures
- Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&
- Performs PLC diagnostics and basic program navigation (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Maintains and repairs conveyor systems, depositors, cooling tunnels, cooking kettles, and packaging lines
- Performs electrical diagnostics: motor controls, VFDs, sensors, junction boxes
- HVAC basic maintenance: filter replacement, belt checks, coil cleaning, refrigerant awareness
- Supports equipment installation, alignment, and commissioning
- Executes and documents IQ/OQ/PQ protocols for new equipment qualification
- Mentors Technician I associates; leads PM completion on assigned equipment
- Manages work orders, equipment history, and PM tracking in Net Suite / CMMS
- Subject matter expert across mechanical, electrical, PLC, HVAC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Leads complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
- Programs and modifies PLC logic for process optimization and equipment upgrades (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- Designs and executes preventative maintenance programs; identifies reliability improvement opportunities
- Oversees and QCs equipment installation, renovation, and facility construction projects
- Leads IQ/OQ/PQ qualification and documentation for FDA-regulated manufacturing equipment
- Manages relationships with outside contractors, equipment vendors, and parts suppliers
- Trains and develops Technician I and II staff; serves as technical lead on assigned shifts
- Champions LOTO, safety compliance, and GMP maintenance standards across all shifts
- Evaluates equipment end-of-life and provides capital expenditure recommendations to management
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on all production, packaging, cooking, and facility equipment
