The Slurry Seal Crew Laborer / Driver supports slurry seal and asphalt maintenance operations by performing general labor duties and safely operating company vehicles and equipment. This position is responsible for transporting crew members, materials, and equipment to and from job sites while assisting with roadway preservation tasks in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Drive company vehicles to transport crew, materials, and equipment to job sites
- Operate pickup trucks, flatbeds, or light-duty construction vehicles as assigned
- Assist slurry seal operators with material application and roadway maintenance tasks
- Prepare work areas by sweeping, blowing, and cleaning pavement surfaces
- Perform handwork including shoveling, raking, edging, and brooming slurry materials
- Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices (cones, signs, barricades)
- Perform flagging duties when trained and certified
- Load, unload, and secure materials, tools, and equipment for transport
- Conduct basic vehicle inspections and report mechanical issues
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, tools, and job sites
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and ADOT standards
- Work outdoors in varying weather and traffic conditions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior asphalt, slurry seal, or construction experience preferred
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong teamwork, reliability, and safety awareness
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb in and out of vehicles and equipment
- Ability to work long hours, early mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime as required
- Ability to work in extreme heat, dust, noise, and outdoor environments typical of Arizona construction
- Outdoor construction sites and active roadways
- Exposure to traffic, moving equipment, asphalt materials, noise, and dust
- Required use of PPE including hard hat, high-visibility vest, gloves, eye protection, and steel-toe boots
