Position SummaryOur Driver will ensure the safe transportation of our residents to and from various destinations—appointments, activity group outings, and other events—assisting them with safe onboarding and offboarding as necessary. The ideal candidate is friendly, patient, and committed to providing excellent service to seniors while ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient transportation service for residents to and from a variety of locations, including human service sites, work sites, educational institutions, medical facilities, grocery stores, and drug stores.
- Assist residents in and out of the vehicle, utilizing the wheelchair lift or stairs as needed; open and close doors; and load/unload walkers and wheelchairs.
- Ensure resident safety and satisfaction are priorities, and account for the presence of all residents when leaving or returning to the community.
- Prepare the van/bus for operation and coordinate necessary vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure all vehicle license plates, inspection tags, and insurance cards are current and displayed properly per local and state policy.
- Follow and understand the rules of the road and transportation safety procedures.
- Maintain a current driving license per state regulations to perform transportation services.
- Assist in resident programs as needed, including activities and special events.
- Build positive relationships with residents, engaging in friendly conversation and providing support during trips.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid state driver’s license (a CDL license may be required per state or local regulations).
- Passenger endorsement if required by state regulations.
- At least three (3) years of clean driving history.
- At least one (1) year of previous experience driving a passenger vehicle, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.
- Experience operating large vehicles or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Excellent customer service skills and a professional, friendly, and patient demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, patience, and commitment to treating residents with the utmost respect.
