The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Corporate and Fiduciary Accounting functions. The position will work closely with the Senior Accountants and Staff Accountants to ensure that all daily fiduciary duties are completed and reconciled. Responsibilities may also extend to provide support within the following functions: (1) Accounts Payable, (2) Accounts Receivable, (3) Premium Processing, (4) Mortgage Processing, (5) Reject Processing, and (6) General Accounting.
Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Processes Mortgage ACD files and remittances when required
- Processes incoming fiduciary premium payments within contractual SLAs
- Reconciles and processes the daily reject batches
- Manages the corporate Accounts Payable process by coding, entering, and routing invoices for approval
- Manages the corporate Accounts Receivable process as well as collections
- Process void checks and reissue requests
- Record cash receipts and manual checks as needed
- Review system generated refunds for accuracy before they are posted to the system
- Assist in the monthly OFAC and/or OSFI process
- Aid in the preparation of client audits
- Prepare and enter journal entries when needed
Education and Experience:
Four-year degree in Accounting or related Business degree with Accounting emphasis.
0-2 years of relevant experience.
Intermediate or advanced user of Excel.
Proficient with Word and PowerPoint.
Experience with Sage 100 a plus.
Other Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent communication skills
Must be a self-starter that can work independently
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong organizational and time management skills
Must be analytical in nature
