Licensing Specialist - Chanhassen Service Center

The Chanhassen Service Center is seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Licensing Specialist to join our team.

Under the direction of the License Center Supervisor, the Licensing Specialist is responsible for providing direct customer service across various channels (drive-up window, face-to-face, and telephone) to a diverse customer base and handling licensing and registration processes.

• Evaluate, prepare, and process motor vehicle titles and registration applications to determine the applicable fees.
• Analyze and process Driver's License and Minnesota  applications.
• Respond to public inquiries and requests for information in person and by telephone.
• Evaluate, prepare, and process Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recreational vehicle titles and registrations.
• Process game and fish licenses.
• Reconcile and complete motor vehicle and driver's license reports to state departments.
• Perform other comparable duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related work experience in a high-volume customer service position, OR associate degree and one (1) year of related work experience in a high-volume customer service position.
• Must be able to prove U.S. citizenship.
• Must pass a BCA (Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions) background check (Driver's License staff only).
• Must test and become a "Certified Title and Registration Professional" by the State of Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services Division (DVS) within 18 months of starting employment; certification must be kept current while employed (all staff).
• Must complete a passport training course and test out to become a passport acceptance agent (Passport staff only).
• Valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

• In-depth knowledge of Minnesota DVS, Department of Public Safety, Department of Natural Resources, and U.S. State Department procedures and practices related to motor vehicle titling and registration, driver's licenses, boat licensing and registration, snowmobile licensing, passports, game, and fish licenses.
• Previous experience with computer hardware and IBM compatible software, along with familiarity of routine office equipment.
